Pousadas in Arraial do Cabo

Arraial do Cabo

Arraial do Cabo was once home to indigenous tribe of Tupinambás but gained fame in colonial times for its Dutch timber smuggling and piracy and there are said to be over 80 shipwrecks dotted about just off the coast. Indeed these days scuba diving is one of the main attractions here, along with hiking and generally chilling on the innumerable beaches. The town itself is flanked by hills and surrounded  by lagoons, and dunes and headlands and sandbanks, offering superb views and sunsets and a quieter  alternative to nearby Cabo Frio.
